29 July 2006 After umpteen hours of training, learning and development, we're proud to announce that NatSteel Asia (NSA) has been awarded the People Developer Standard (PDS).
Administered by SPRING Singapore, the award recognises organisations committed to bringing out the best in their people while achieving better business results. It also provides guidelines for organisations to review their training policies, develop staff and improve learning effectiveness.
In the first quarter of 2005, NSA adopted the People Developer framework to develop our staff and further improve our business. Various committees were set up to examine issues such as the effectiveness of programmes within the total learning plan and to recommend staff learning programmes, among others.
Then came Apr 06, when external auditors assessed our level of people development according to the Assessment of People Excellence criteria. The verdict? Our approach in leading people towards individual excellence and better performance is sound and effective.
"The PDS is an endorsement of NatSteel Asia's training policies and learning programmes. However, we should not just be satisfied with that," said Frankie Yung, Assistant Vice-President of Human Resource. "We will continue to develop our people to their fullest potential."
Many thanks to all staff and the senior management for their cooperation and commitment. Achieving the award is not the end of our journey; instead it marks a new beginning with new learning curves for all of us. Our quest towards business and personal excellence has just begun...
