this article on the government's effort in encouraging a higher
birth rate in Singapore and employers that adopt a 'baby-friendly
work culture', NatSteel Holdings is highlighted as an example of a
company which has put in place a holistic solution for staff who are
intending to have children. Ms Liu Fang Joo, Chief HR Officer and
Senior Vice President, said: "It (NatSteel's baby-friendly
initiative) also relieve financial burdens and provide assurance to
motivate employees to be happy and productive."

A Day At Work For The Little Ones
NTUC This Week, 23 Apr 10
NatSteel's first
Little Ones@Work programme was also covered in NTUC This Week. Said
Mr Chew Chee Leong, President of the NatSteel Employees' Union:
"This is a great programme for everyone. Children get the
opportunity to see first hand the type of work that their parents do
on an everyday basis. We hope that this will be an ongoing programme
and we want to encourage more parents to take part in it."

NatSteel sends children to its steel

NatSteel's first Little Ones@Work
programme held on 17 Mar 10 was featured. A programme initiated by
the NTUC Women's Development Secretariat, Little Ones@Work
encourages companies to allow employees to take their children to
work at least once a year. Not only does this programme allow both
employees and their children to bond, it also enables our employees'
children to relate to what their parents do for work and to have a
clearer understanding of how the company operates.
